This video was shot at rehearsal prior to our performance. More information on Beyond the Threshold is available here: http://www.phffft.org/bttidf.html

Turning Over
This video was shot in North Rose Hill Woodlands Park located in Kirkland. The music is by Eli Godbolt, and the dancer is Katie Ringland. I know the weather looks beautiful, but the moment we were done shooting, it started pouring down rain, and it continued raining for the rest of the day.

Dead Animals
While filming in the park today, a man came over while walking his dog. He informed us that he wished that he had thought to bring a camera with him, because there were three raccoons lying dead in the road a ways back. Apparently they'd been poisoned. Then, he proceeded to give us exact directions to the location of their corpses. Since we had a camera with us. He'll be bringing his along tomorrow. I hope for his sake that the raccoons are still there.

Unanswered Questions
So, here it is. Our first video exploration of Man in Doorway. The video was filmed in summer 2008, and is set to the music of Mike Klepper. The location is Bellevue's McCormick Park, where a sculptural, stone doorway is set facing 12th street. The Chimera dancers in this video are: Kathryn Hubbard, Krista Lofgren, Alice Madden, and myself. Rocky Smith helped out with some of the camera work.
The real question is whether we have captured the true essence of Man in Doorway. Mike Klepper doesn't appear completely convinced.
The search continues.

Cheerleaders in Elevators
Man in Doorway can be dangerous. Sounds like a promising premise for future explorations.

Welcome
You've arrived at the web home to Man in Doorway. Of course, men in doorways cannot be contained merely in the digital format, but we will do our best. This is a video project by Chimera Dance Theater, stolen from an original concept by Mike Klepper.
If you are interested in collaborating on one of these videos as a musician, performer, or in some other aspect, or if you have an idea for an interesting location we could utilize, please feel free to contact me at sarah@chimeradance.org.
My name is Sarah, and I am the director of Chimera Dance Theater, a nonprofit contemporary dance company located in Redmond, WA. Chimera has been in existence for roughly three years. We first discovered Man in Doorway at a potluck.
